"SMELLY-JELLY JARS" aka Renuzit
16 ounce jar of liquid potpourri
1 box of Knox Gelatin
1/4 tsp Potassium Sorbate (to prevent mildew)
3 jelly jars
In old pan mix 8 oz. of liquid and all 4 envelopes of gelatin and
potassium sorbate, bring to a boil over med heat stirring constantly
till dissolved. Remove from heat and add remaining liquid potpourri,
pour into jars and let cool.
DO NOT put lids on till cool and set!
This recipe makes 3 jelly jars not quite full. Add Lace over the top
and decorate to your liking. Just let it sit with no lid and enjoy the
fragrance. Potassium Sorbate can be bought at drug stores.
EASY HERBAL BATH
Add herbs to your tub by putting
the herbs into a muslin bag and tie it
directly under the tap as the
water
is running. You can also add scented oil to the mixture
if you want to.
Here
are a few ideas for herbs to use:
Chamomile - soothing and cleansing
Comfrey – rejuvinating
Lovage - deodorizing and cleansing
Lady's mantle - soothes skin irritation
Black tea - relieving sunburn pain
Mint - soothing and relaxing
Lavender - relaxing and aromatic
EASY MILK BATH
Just add 1/2 - 1 cup of dried milk to your bath water for a softening and
soothing bath.
MILK BATH
2 cups dry milk powder
1 cup cornstarch
1/8 teaspoon fragrance oil of your choice
Blend together all ingredients in blender.
Add 1/2 cup of mixture to hot
bath water.
INSTANT BATH SALTS
1 cup salt
1 cup epsom salt
1 cup baking soda
Add a little of the mixture to your tub for a revitalizing bath.
For
lightly
scented bubbles,
just add 1 cup of shampoo.
For a nice scent,
add a few drops of fragrance oil.
VANILLA BATH BOMBS
Mix 1 part citric acid (you can get this at a pharmacy) with 2 1/4 parts
baking soda. Add several drops of vanilla (or your favorite) essential
oil
and a few drops food coloring. Moisten by spraying with water or witch
hazel
(witch hazel is better since it evaporates much more quickly) until
mixture
just begins to stick together. Take truffle sized scoops of the mixture
and
shape into balls. Balls should be about 1" in diameter. Let balls rest on
a
sheet of waxed paper for 2 - 3 hours. Let the bombs dry and harden for
24 -
48 hours. Pack each bomb into its own muffin cup (paper liners sold in
baking section in your grocery store). Store bombs in a closed container.
To
use drop, 1 -3 bombs into warm bath water.
ULTRA-MOISTURIZING FIZZY BATH BOMB
2 T Citric Acid
2 T Cornstarch
1/4 c baking soda
1/4 t fragrance oil
3 - 6 drops of liquid colorant (if desired)
3 T Coconut Oil ( or any other emollient oil like Almond Oil,
Avocado
Oil,
or Apricot Kernel Oil)
Place all of the dry ingredients (first 3) into a bowl and mix well.
Add
fragrance and colorant. In a small glass bowl combine oil then
add
fragrance
and colorant. Slowly add oil mixture to dry ingredients and blend well.
Take
truffle sized scoops of the mixture and shape into balls.
Balls should be about 1" in diameter. Let balls rest on a sheet of waxed
paper for 2 - 3 hours. Let the bombs dry and harden for 24 - 48 hours.
Pack
each bomb into its own candy cup. Store bombs in a closed container.
To
use
drop, 1 -3 into warm bath water.
