CRICKET KEEPING YOU UP? - Put a wet washcloth in your kitchen or
bathroom window at night. In the morning you'll find the noisy critter in
the washcloth. SHOE & HANDBAG POLISH - Use Milk and a clean rag to polish
your shoes and leather handbags. STAYING SAFE OUTDOORS - Place bathtub
non slip stickers on your painted deck stairs to keep friends and family
from slipping in the rain. GETTING READY FOR SNOW - Use floor wax on your
snow shovel, keeps your shovel from rusting and the snow from
sticking. RAIN GAUGE - Make that rain gauge easy to read by adding 2
drops of food coloring. Coloring will even work after it has dried. DECK
FURNITURE COASTERS - Use the caps from soda bottles for your outdoor
furniture. The caps can be replaced when you finish another bottle of soda.
This helps protect your furniture and your deck. CLEAN GRILL - Lay your
grill rack on the lawn when you go to bed at night, the dew will combine
with the enzymes in the grass to loosen any burned on grease. Works with
oven racks also! MELTED PLASTIC CLEAN UP - Next time you melt a bread
wrapper ion teh toaster or coffee pot, rub some petroleum jelly on it,
reheat the appliance and rub it off with a paper towel. MOTH BALLS? -
Newspaper repels moths, and smells so much better than mothballs. BEE
STING - Apply a slice of onion and hold it there for a minute or two. It
does the trick. WINDOW CLEANING - 1/2 Cup Rubbing alcohol and 1 quart
water, pour into spray bottle. Use newspaper and solution for non streak,
no lint window cleaning. SOAP BUILD UP - To keep soap scum from building
up on shower doors, use a clean cloth and baby oil. It prevents soap scum
and dirt from building up. DRY CLEAN ROVER - To clean your dog in the
winter, rub baking soda in his fur and then brush out. PICTURE HANGING -
When hanging picutres, heat the nail frist with a lighter. You won't crakc
your plaster. BOOKMARKS - Cut the corner from used envelopes, they slip
right over the corner of your book pages. REDUCE CAT HAIR - Run a damp
paper towel over your cats fur. It collects both hair and dirt. REMOVING
CANDLE WAX - Candle wax from carpeting, place a brown paper bag over the wax
and gently run a warm iron over the bag. GLUE COVERS STICKING? - If you
are having trouble with your glue covers sticking, try applying petroleum
jelly around the rim. It also works on paint cans.
DUSTING UNDER THINGS - Slip an old sock onto a fly-swatter and sew
it securely in place. DEFROSTING THE FRIDGE - Save time by setting
newspaper sheets on the shelves. This will absorb the water and make cleanup
quicker. COOKING OIL SPILL - If you spill cooking oil on the floor,
immediately pour salt on the spill. In a matter of minutes, you will be able
to swep away the salt and oil. This also works well withn eggs! CLEANING
COPPER BOTTOM PANS - Use lemon halves the juice has been squeezed out of.
Dip them in salt and rub the bottom of the pan for a few minutes. Your pans
will shine like new. If you then scour the bottom of the pan with a soap
filled pad, this will help prevent further accumulation. WRINKLES OUT OF
VELVET - To "press" a velvet dress, hang it in your bathroom, and turn on
the hot water in your shower. Let the dress hang there for about 20 to 25
minutes, this will steam out any wrinkles. FINGERPRINTS - To remove
fingerprints from a light switch, use a slightly damp soapy wash cloth.
Hand soap works best. CLEANING STOVE FAN FILTERS - To clean the filter in
your stove fan, put the filter in the dishwasher, with a little extra soap.
Run a full cycle, your filter will be like new. HANGING FINE WASHABLES -
Cut the fingers from a pair of old cotton gloves, and slip them over the
ends of clothes pins. This allows you to hang stockings and such, without
worry of snags. BATHROOM MIRROR FOGGING - To keep your bathroom mirror
from foggin up, clean it with shaving cream. It works well on eyeglasses
also.
