Welcome to our page dedicated to those men and women who put
their lives on the line everyday.
The men and women who get out of their nice warm beds in the winter,
leave family dinners, miss kids sports and school functions, all to be
there when a neighbor is in need of their help!. Their reward for this:
The good feeling they get from helping a neighbor in need.
These special people go through alot of training to do this job. I know that
some people are unaware that even volunteers go through rigorous training.
They have drills every week at their fire departments. They are constantly
learning new ways to help us and keep us safe. My hubby Tracey has been in
the fire service for almost 24 years now. He is FF3 certified and has
his Haz Mat Operational Certification. He helps with Fire Prevention at
the schools when he can get time off from work. On these pages you will
find safety tips and links. We hope that you enjoy your
visit! Make sure your chiminey is clean and creosote free before
using your wood stove, or fireplace. Annual cleanings are reccomended.
Some fire departments will clean your chimney for a small donation. This
gives them extra training and a way to help the rookies learn. KIDS: Fire
is NOT a toy, or a game, it is very DANGEROUS! DO NOT PLAY WITH
MATCHES! Please do NOT set leaves on fire just to see the fire trucks.
Your "small" leaf or brush fire could end up with a firefighter or
civilian being injured. Stop by the station, we will be glad to show you
the trucks. You can usually find your local volunteers at the station at
least one night a week. Parents, keep an eye on your children you are the
ones they learn from and the ones to protect them. Along with winter also
come warnings about driving safety: Please watch your speed, kids are out
playing in the snow now. I am willing to bet they are NOT looking out
for you, so please SLOW DOWN and watch for them. There is no call, as
painful to firefighters and EMT's, like a call for a hurt child.
Have a safe and happy winter!
