1 Choose your crash site. A tree with a trunk that is sturdy, yet not
huge in circumfrence. Tree should be highly visable from the street.
2
Measure the sweat pants legs and cut the 1x 4 a few inches longer than the
pant leg. slide the wood into the leg, and with help, nail them to the tree,
3 to 4 feet above the ground, and parallel to it. For the best illusion,
you'll want to have at least a few inches of the legs extending toward the
witch's back{so she appears to have hips}. Slide the boots onto the end of
the legs.
3 Secure the brrom into place, rooughly parallel to the ground.
Nail it to the tree and one of the legs.
4 Now cut the other 1x4's to the
length of the turtlenecks arms and slip them inside the turtleneck. Nail an
arm to each side of the tree, parallel to the ground and a few feet above
the legs{so the bottom of the turtle neck is at the waist of the
sweatpants}. Slip the rubber gloves on her arms.
5 Pull the trash bag
drawstring tight, then nail it to the tree so it looks like a cape. Secure
the bottom of it also so it doesn't blow around.
6 Lastly, nail the wig
to the tree, cover it with the hat, then nail the hat in place as well. If
you don't have a wig, simply cut a bunch of yarn into long strands and tie
them together at the top.
We could not find green gloves so we used
yellow, looked good too!

MATERIALS
6
DOWELS
6 SMALL WHITE GARBAGE BAGS
NEWSPAPER
MAKSING TAPE
6 WHITE
SHEETS {see crafters note}
STRING
BLACK PERMANENT MARKERS {or fabric
paint}
1 First, find a good location for your gathering of ghosts. They
look especially good when circling a central pole, such as a lamp post. {I
have mine around a campfire}
2 Next, cut your dowels o the height you
want your ghosts to be. We've seen them in every size, from toddler to quite
large. Remember: the larger the ghost the morre sheets you'll need. The
ghosts made with these materials are about 4 foot tall.
3 To make a ghost
head, stuff a small white garbage bag with newspaper or leaves to the size
you like. Push one of the dowels into the bag, then wrap masking tape around
the neck to secure. Repeat for the rest of the ghosts.
4 Drape a sheet{or
half a sheet, if you're making small ghosts} over each head and tie a piece
of string around the neck. You may need to experiment with cutting your
sheets to the right size;here, we used a queen-size sheet for each ghost and
rounded the bottom edges to the desired length.
5 Draw a face on the
ghost, using the marker or cloth paint.
Gather your ghosts around the
tree or post-with a foot or two between them- and push the dowels into the
ground so that the sheets touch the ground. Angle the ghosts so that they
are leaning slightly backward, then knot the corners of the sheets together
as if the ghosts were holding hands.
CRAFTERS NOTE;
This project
requires you to use 3 to 6 sheets{depending on the size of your ghosts}. to
save money, use old sheets or buy the least expensive ones you can find. We
were able to buy 6 queen size sheets for about 80.00- not cheap! But they
can be reused year after year!
Emtmoms note
I made 3 little ghosts for
my yard using 3 white pillow cases. So if you can't find seconds or find a
nice cheap outlet for white fabric, pillow cases make cute little ghosts!
For the camp fire; I took a small wooden box, and wrapped it with orange and
red xmas lights. Looks like a real campfire!

MATERIALS
18 LARGE
BLACK GARBAGE BAGS
LEAVES OR NEWSPAPERS
BLACK ELECTRICAL TAPE
3
LARGE RED PLASTIC PARTY CUPS
CLOTHESLINE{optional}
1 To make the
spider's body, stuff one trash bag full of leaves or newspaper. Tie the bag
closed, then flip it upside down. To make the head, stuff a second bag{not
as full as the first}, tie it closed, and tape it to the body.
2 To make
one of the legs, roll up two garbage bags together lengthwise and wrap them
with electrical tape at both ends and at two points along the leg to form
joints. Roll up seven more legs, then cut four small holes in each side of
the spiders body, and insert the legs.
3 Cut the white lip off of 2 of
the red party cups, then tape them red side up to the spiders head, for his
eyes. For his fangs, cut 2 triangles out of the third cup and tape them
white side up for his fangs.
4 Perch your spider atop a big pile of
leaves. If you'd like to create a spider web for her, simply weave and tie
the clothes line or twine across your porch. If you want to give your
tarantula an extra scary effect, you might also tie a few unlucky stuffed
animals in her web!
